INTONACO ARENINO
CHARACTERISTICS
Intonaco Arenino is a natural lime mortar with a diffuse porosity which permits excellent exchange of vapour between the walls and environment.
It is the ideal finishing for IMPEX COLOR finished systems because it combines the excellent mechanical resistance and maximum breathing property characteristics.

PREPARATION OF THE BASE
Evaluation of the type and condition of the surface plaster:
Bases suitable for directly receiving Arenino Intonaco: plaster in with potsherd, lime and sand plaster, natural lime plasters - cement and sand.
Bases to be treated beforehand with adequate adhesive: plaster in cement and sand, elements in reinforced concrete, gypsum based premixed products and plasterboard.
Based to be completely removed: old plasters which detach easily, water and lime based paints, quartz paints, plastic plasters.
Surface conditions: the substrate must be compact, without cracks, holes and major differences in level. The substrate must have uniform absorption, must not have water build-up, build-up of salts, moulds and moss. The substrate must not have spots of tar, oil or release agent additives. New plaster must always be sufficiently seasoned in order to avoid hair cracks and cracks occurring during settling.
Carefully wash the wall surfaces (if necessary) with a low pressure water cleaner, in order to remove all moveable parts and dust.
Wet the surfaces in relation to the degree of material absorption and atmospheric conditions.
The correct quantity of water is established by testing bearing in mind that the surface must remain wet during the entire laying and working time of Intonaco Arenino.
PREPARATION OF THE PASTE
Mix the contents of the Intonaco Arenino package with clean water in the quantity required to obtain a uniform mortar.
Mix by hand, with a mixer or in a cement mixer for no longer than 5 minutes to obtain a paste without lumps and with uniform colour.
Let the mortar sit for around twenty minutes before applying.
APPLICATION
Apply the first layer of Intonaco Arenino, by hand with a stainless steel trowel, using force to scrape the base to close the porosity in the surface.
Wait for the first hardening of the layer before continuing to work it, it is advisable to apply the second layer within 24 hours (if the surface has completely dried when the second coat is to be applied, it is advisable to wet it slightly and uniformly).
Apply a second layer of Intonaco Arenino with a thickness of around 2 mm, by hand with a stainless steel trowel pressing it uniformly.
After around 20 minutes (this time varies based on the temperature and surface absorption) sponge the surfaces with the sponge or stiff float based on the desired finish.
WARNING!
During application of the second layer the operator must be very careful while working to avoid creating detachments, lines or surmounts. When trowelling, Intonaco Arenino must be wet with enough water so that the tool glides without sticking in the mortar too much, the trowelling must be uniform and carried out with wide semi-circular movements without going back over areas which are hardening.
PROTECTION OF INTONACO ARENINO
The plaster must be protected from direct rain for at least the first three days after application.
It is advisable to clean scaffolding surfaces because dust or splashes of material can become attached to the Intonaco Arenino during the drying phase.
Application of a water repellent treatment is recommended for facades which are highly exposed to bad weather, overhanging parts and chimneys, particularly with deep colours.
